A Day in Your Boots You'll wake up early—typically 4:30 or 5 a.m.—and head to our North Syracuse staging area to grab your shovel and gear. Winter mornings are your domain. You'll spend the day clearing sidewalks and walkways across North Syracuse and the surrounding North Shore suburbs before residents and business owners need these spaces. You work with a tight crew, report any equipment issues, and, by early afternoon, head home. Weather dictates the intensity, but the work is consistent throughout the winter season. What You'll Do - Clear sidewalks and walkways of snow and ice during winter months, keeping properties safe and accessible for residents and businesses - Use hand tools and light equipment to remove snow efficiently and with care for surrounding landscaping - Treat walkways with salt or sand as needed to prevent slipping hazards - Work early mornings (typically 6 a.m.–2 p.m., Monday through Friday) and respond to weather conditions to get jobs done before people need to use these spaces - Maintain equipment in good working order and report any issues to your crew lead - Communicate with customers about completed work and address any concerns professionally What We're Looking For - Someone who's reliable and shows up ready to work, even when the weather is rough - Physical capability to shovel for extended periods and lift/carry loads regularly - No experience required—we'll train you from day one if you're willing to learn - A willingness to work early starts during the winter season - Attention to detail—you understand that doing this job right keeps people safe - A positive attitude and respect for coworkers and customers We Hire From Landscaping crews, warehouse teams, retail, construction, and anyone with a strong work ethic looking to transition into outdoor seasonal work—if you're dependable and ready to work, we want to talk to you. We're looking for a dependable salt truck operator to keep North Syracuse, NY safe and moving through tough winter weather. If you've worked in landscaping, construction, transportation, or any equipment-heavy role, we want to hear from you—we'll train you on everything else. What You'll Do - Operate and maintain salt and sand spreading trucks on local roads, highways, and private properties during winter weather events - Load and spread de-icing materials efficiently and safely, adjusting spread rates based on road conditions and weather - Conduct pre- and post-shift equipment inspections and perform basic maintenance to keep trucks in top working order - Work extended hours during snow and ice storms, sometimes starting before dawn or working overnight shifts - Navigate challenging winter road conditions with precision and care, following all safety protocols and company procedures - Communicate with dispatch and team members to coordinate routes and respond to changing weather conditions A Typical Winter Day Your alarm goes off at 4:30 AM when snow is forecasted. You head to our North Syracuse facility, load up your salt truck by 5:30 AM, and hit the roads as conditions develop. What You'll Do - Operate dozers, excavators, and skid steers on residential and commercial landscaping projects throughout the North Syracuse area and surrounding Onondaga County - Grade and prepare land for hardscaping, planting, and drainage work with precision and attention to detail - Work closely with our crew leads and project managers to meet deadlines and quality standards - Perform routine maintenance on equipment to keep machines running smoothly and safely - Navigate varying terrain and weather conditions while maintaining focus on the job at hand - Help troubleshoot equipment issues on-site and communicate any problems to management A Typical Day You arrive at 7:00 AM, review the day's site plan with your crew lead, and head out to a residential grading project in North Syracuse.
