Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable and compassionate Montessori Elementary Assistant Teacher to
support our 7–9-year-old multi-age classroom.
Working alongside the Lead Guide, you will help maintain a calm, prepared, and purposeful
environment while supporting children's academic, social, emotional, and practical
development. The ideal candidate is patient, observant, collaborative, organized, and
passionate about helping children become confident and independent learners.
Key Responsibilities
● Support the Lead Guide in maintaining a prepared, peaceful, and organized Montessori
environment
● Assist with classroom routines, transitions, arrival, dismissal, meals, and daily needs
● Support children's independence, responsibility, organization, and respectful social
behavior
● Assist students with classroom work while encouraging independence and
problem-solving
● Support small-group activities and lessons under the Lead Guide's direction
● Observe students and communicate relevant observations to the Lead Guide
● Maintain classroom materials, shelves, work areas, and learning spaces
● Encourage grace and courtesy, positive peer relationships, and peaceful conflict
resolution
● Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment
● Collaborate professionally with guides, staff, and families
● Follow The Nest's Montessori philosophy, policies, and procedures
● Participate in professional development and school community activities
Qualifications
● Experience working with elementary-aged children strongly preferred
● Montessori classroom experience preferred; Montessori training or credential (AMI,
AMS, MACTE-accredited program, NAMC, or equivalent) is a plus
● Understanding of or willingness to learn about child development for ages 7–9
● Warm, calm, patient, and respectful approach to working with children
● Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
● Dependable, professional, and receptive to coaching and feedback
● Genuine interest in Montessori philosophy and child development
Requirements
● Must meet Texas Minimum Standards for licensed child care staff
● Must be available to work in person Monday–Friday
● Must demonstrate professionalism, consistency, and reliability
